Vacation Series: Mexico Momcation

I got to kick off this year's traveling early and in a very special way. My best friend was getting married at an all inclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! It was determined early on that my husband would stay home with our two boys. While I was originally bummed out about going solo, I eventually decided to turn the trip into the ultimate "momcation." They say dining or going to the movies alone is good for your psyche, and I know all moms love getting to go to the grocery store alone, so I figured the chance to travel and sit by the pool all weekend in silence would be ultra relaxing!

I have always wanted to go to "pretty" Mexico. You know, the tropical version of Mexico you see on television versus the rural parts of Mexico I was used to visiting. I packed my floppy hat, my bridesmaid dress, my bikini and I was off! Thanks to Southwest I paid for my whole trip in points. If you don't have a Southwest card yet, I highly suggest one. We have found their rewards program to be the best of all the credit cards.

Upon arriving at Dreams, my best friend and I were absolutely giddy. The resort was beautiful and our rooms luxurious. Seriously, my shower was big enough to host a yoga class in. This was my first all inclusive experience, so I thought it was magical that we pre-paid a nightly rate and then didn't have to pay for a thing while we were there. Room service, drinks, even full meals at the restaurants. All included!

A few things: one restaurant had a dress code and they tended to fill up fast, so be flexible. My mixed drinks weren't great, so order champagne. The spa services seemed okay, but my friend had troubles at the salon. There was also a mix up with our transportation back to the airport, so work closely with your concierge to arrange that. What little Spanish I do know helped my stay go pretty smoothly (thanks for your help with the phrases Mom).

At the end of the trip, my best friend married the love of her life in an amazing beach ceremony where we danced until the wee hours under the moonlight, and my other best friend got engaged. It was the trip of a lifetime. I hope to return to Dreams someday, with the entire family in tow!

Have you ever stayed at an all inclusive resort? If so, which one?

XO - Olivia
