A Little About Me

  • I need creative outlets. I need ways to express myself. Creativity, expression, and sharing is how I process life. It’s how I make sense of things and what makes my experiences more meaningful. If I am not inspiring others, teaching them something, or at the very least making them laugh - then I am not pursuing my passion in life.

My first creative love was dance. As a kid I moved around a lot and as stressful as it always was, I knew I’d be okay if the town we were going to had a dance studio or if the school had a dance team. I still practice and teach ballet. I love to go to the dance hall for 2-step and the occasional salsa night. I also find peace most weeks in yoga class. Anything that moves and connects my mind, body, and soul.

My background is in digital marketing and while that doesn’t come with the typical canvas and paint like other artforms, I do have opportunities to be creative when it comes to telling stories for my clients.

This space however, is all mine.

I don’t answer to anyone here but myself. That is why you will see a wide range of topics. I am a proud multi-passionate and I see no need to limit myself into one or two topics. I personally think that most humans are multi-passionate and I am here to help you pursue all your passions.

Now, I can’t promise award winning writing or that no one will ever have their feelings hurt. But I can promise a genuine glimpse into the life of a modern mom who happens to enjoy digital marketing and politics. I’m also just crazy enough to try to balance homeschooling my two kiddos and a farm. I love Jesus, so you will find scripture in my posts from time to time. Ultimately, if  I can be of some comfort to just one other person in the world then all is well.

  • In 2023, I set out to write my family's story about immigrating legally from Mexico to the United States back in the 1960s. From there I found myself looking back on my life and all the ways I tried to live out of alignment with God's desires for me. For example, my husband and I had our first child while we were just freshmen in college. Statistics said it was a completely unredeemable situation, but God God made my crooked path straight then and has continued to do so my whole life. Other major catalysts in my story include the difficulties of growing up in between two cultures, seeing forgiveness at work after the loss of a childhood friend, the hustle and bustle of being an entrepreneur, and my family's return to our ancestor's roots by way of leaving the city for the farm. The book ends with my modern-day advice for topics such as marriage, parenting, homeschool, food, entrepreneurship, and faith. My book is available locally at Watermark Books or on Amazon. I have versions available in paperback, e-book, english and spanish.

  • I was born in Amarillo, Texas and then had the privilege of growing up partly in Tennessee, California, Missouri, and Kansas. I returned to Texas in 2008 and lived in New Braunfels for 10 years. In January of 2013 my husband and I started our own business. Focused on serving other small businesses, Hayse Marketing specialized in online marketing including (but not limited to) websites, social media, email marketing and you guessed it – blogging! You can still read all of our agency blog posts here: Hayse Marketing. In 2018, my family and I moved back to Kansas, just outside of Wichita to be exact, in order to be closer to family and to fulfill our homesteading dreams. I share a little of everything on my blog, but you can also follow along with all our farming adventures here: Hayseed Farm, where my husband Dean is the main contributor.

  • I have been a registered Libertarian since 2016. I was the Marketing Director for the Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS) from 2020-2024. I was chosen to represent LPKS as a delegate to the Libertarian National Convention in 2022 and again in 2024. I am active in local and state politics to include serving on the Sedgwick County 5th District Citizens Advisory Board since 2021, the Oaklawn Leadership Committee and am an advisor with the Kansas Cannabis Coalition. I have worked on many campaigns from a marketing perspective, but I just finished up my first run for office. I ran for the Kansas Senate District 30 seat and plan to run again in the future. I am a passionate and outspoken advocate for small government and personal freedoms.
