Wichita Adventures: Updated Mural Map - Summer 2024

One of my favorite things about Wichita is all the murals. They are spread out all over town, they are made by a variety of local artists and styles, and there are always new ones popping up. There are even a couple weekends throughout the year where artists and volunteers work on new murals and touch up older murals. Keep an eye on social media if you want to be a part of those weekends ;-)

A bright, vibrant mural is such a fun thing to catch when you’re running around town, but it’s an even funner thing when you plan a whole outing around checking out a few. Bonus: for all my ballin’ on a budget girlies, it doesn’t cost anything but a little gas and maybe an iced coffee to check out a handful in one day!

Here are a few of my favorites from my most recent mural outing:

  1. The first one is on the side of Uptown Crown Theater. It was a whole theater themed mural but I specifically loved this little pair of “theater birds.”

  2. The second is on a garage door at the corner of Douglas and Lulu St. My photographer (aka my teenage son) and I jokingly called this one the Mary Poppins mural, because it was so magical it felt like you could just leap into it.

  3. Okay, this isn’t a mural but it’s a place I have been wanting to check out for years. It’s called Gallery Alley and you just have to go experience it. It’s located in a little alley off Douglas Street next to Old Mill Tasty Shop. Sidenote: I’ve still never been to Old Mill but it’s on my list.

  4. As we were leaving Gallery Alley we stumbled across the coolest spot - Wizard’s Alley. It is the ultimate “geek store and gaming tavern.” They have board games and gaming tables. Pokemon cards and game figurines. They even serve soda, beer, and “Wichita’s Okayest Pizza.” I will definitely be back with all my boys in tow! Here is their website if you want to learn more and pay them a visit: https://wizardsict.com/.

I just added ten fresh stops to my Wichita Murals Google Map. You can pop it into your own Google Map App and off you go! There are even sample pics with each pin drop.

Enjoy!
